ELSAH, Ill. -- The Principia bats were hot in the opening game of the weekend series, as the hosts took a 24-3 win from a shortened Friday contest.

Maranatha had their best day at the plate so far this season, registering seven hits but stranding 12 runners. Judson Martin had the highlight of the day with a two-RBI single. The Sabercats stay in Elsah, Illinois to face Principia again in a Saturday doubleheader to close out the weekend.

STORY

The Panthers came to life in the third inning, scoring 13 runs in the third frame alone to buckle themselves into the driver's seat.

Judson Martin created the bright spot in the following inning, plating Jonathan Piranian and Wyatt Arterberry, but that was the only earned run the Sabercats could show for their efforts. Another highlight was a double from Joe Anderson in the second inning.

The Saturday doubleheader begins at 12 p.m. central, with the Sabercats looking to build on their bright spots from the Friday opener.
