EUREKA, Ill. -- The Sabercats had some bright spots at Eureka College but ultimately fell short to conclude the season with 4-10 and 3-12 losses to the Red Devils.
Joe Cook had a two-run homer to log his first career home run. Game two was shortened to just three innings as the Sabercats finish the 2024 season winless, but with marked improvement throughout the campaign.

STORY
Eureka scored consistently throughout the first game of the day, putting up runs in every inning except for the fourth. Joe Cook got the Sabercats on the board in the third inning when he smashed a home run to left field for a two-run shot, bring home Jonathan Piranian. That was Cook's first career home run, and it tied the game in the top of the second inning.
Eureka answered immediately, scoring six runs in their next two at-bats, and the Sabercats tried to answer in the sixth inning, executing at the plate to bring in two runs. Joe Anderson and Cameron Curcuro both recorded RBI singles to bring the runners home, but the late offer wasn't enough to offset 10 runs from the Red Devils, who took the win to the tune of 10-4. Curcuro took the loss for the Sabercats, pitching all six defensive innings of game one.
The second game of the day was abbreviated to three innings. Maranahta opened the game with three runs in the top of the innings thanks to an RBI single from Teddy Haugen, a hit-by-pitch RBI from Piranian, and a sac fly from Cook. Eureka promptly answered with 11 runs off one hit in their first at-bat, stranding three runners in the bottom of the inning.Â
