WATERTOWN, Wis. -- The 2025 Sabercats Women's Volleyball Season was full of close calls for a young team, who didn't have any true seniors (4-year players) in a squad that consisted of 10 freshman. After struggling to win a set in the opening weeks of the season, the Sabercats took a set off of North Central on September 20th to kick-start some momentum.
The momentum finally materialized into a win, as the Sabercats took a win off of Moody in Watertown for the second year in a row. The Sabercats found themselves being competitive in more matches than last season but still having trouble overcoming the winning hurdle. In an 8-match stretch near the end of the season, the Sabercats took at least a set off of their opponents.
A good sign of things to come for a young group.
"From starting at the NCCAA tournaments we played in to finishing with some home games, it was just a huge blessing to see our unit work," said Coach Lindsay Lawson. "I know this unit will be a force to be reckoned with in years to come. Out of the seven active players last year we only brought back four. That's a small core to work from, and they really established themselves well."
