Dubuque, Iowa -- The Sabercats came out firing tonight but couldn't overcome a slow second and third quarter, falling at Emmaus 31-62.
Emmaus scored half their points in the second quarter alone, and the Sabercats struggled to connect in the third quarter in the loss. Lillian Cook led Maranatha with 11 points on the night.

STORY
The Sabercats were the better team in the first quarter. Cook was the main character, grabbing five rebounds and scoring four points, as Maranatha led 13-7 after the opening 10 minutes. Maranatha was tidy with the ball, only committing three turnovers in the opening act, and they held their hosts to shooting just 3-18.
But the second quarter changed everything.
Emmaus caught fire, putting up 31 points - half their points on the night - in the second quarter alone, punishing 12 Sabercat turnovers while shooting a red-hot 58 percent from the floor. Madeline Weist contributed 9 points for Emmaus, who felt like they couldn't miss as they went into the halftime break ahead 38-22.
The third quarter was the deal-breaker for the Sabercats, who were limited to just one point by the Emmaus defense. With a comfortable lead going into the final act, Emmaus sealed the deal to take the season sweep over Maranatha.
