WATERTOWN, Wis. -- The Sabercats were looking for their second win of the season against Principia, but were ultimately disappointed yesterday in the season-finishing doubleheader at Washington Park.

The Sabercats said good-bye to seven student-athletes, as Sam Hangen,
Joe Anderson,
Tim Nickels,
Cameron Curcuro,
Don Wheeler,
Collin Pittsenbarger, and
Daniel Piranian all played their final game in MBU colors.

- Game 2: Maranatha 0-4 Principia

STORY
The game started with a loud first inning, as Principia scored scored twice in their opening at-bat. The consecutive hits from Curcuro and Emerson Pease fueled a bases-loaded situation for Teddy Haugen, who clipped a 2-RBI single up the middle. Jonathan Jeske, the Sabercats' next batter, brought home Joe Anderson with another RBI single, and just like that, the Sabercats were on the board.
But the momentum stopped there. The Sabercats gave up 6 runs in the third inning off of 4 hits and 3 errors, as Principia punished the Sabercats for defensive mistakes to take a 9-3 lead. That 6-run inning was the biggest blow Principia would deal on the day, but the Panthers chipped away at the plate to keep the Sabercats out of reach. Maranatha logged 7 hits in the opening game - 2 coming from Curcuro - but ultimately stranded 5 runners in scoring position in the opening game of the series.
The second game was highlighted by a 7-inning 2-hitter performance from Cole Christensen, who chalked up his first win this season for Principia. His opposite was Jonathan Jeske, who pitched 5 innings and gave up just 1 earned run as Principia took a 4-0 win in a defensive battle.
For the Sabercats, Jeske's replacement was Joe Anderson, who froze the score after coming on to start the fifth inning, striking out four batters on his way to maintaining a team-low 6.75 ERA and 1.66 WHIP through 18.2 innings in the 2025 season. On the offensive side, Anderson and Haugen were the only two Sabercats to record a hit in the final game of the 2025 campaign.
