WATERTOWN, Wis. -- The Sabercats had their second-best offensive showing of the season in yesterday's twinbill against Martin Luther College, but ultimately, their bid for the win came up short in their final home games of the 2025 season.
The Sabercats compiled 7 runs off of 12 hits on the day, taking 5-21 and 2-12 losses at Brandt-Quirk Park.
Racquelle Melville highlighted the offensive efforts with an RBI double in the opening game. Melville went on to cross home plate on the play, capitalizing on a Martin Luther error to score a "little league home run." The Knights would then take full control of the game and limit the Sabercats to scoring just 3 runs in their final at-bat as a team.
The second game of the day was more of a defensive battle, as the Knights scored 2 runs in the first inning and narrowly escaped in the bottom of the second. After an RBI single from Lydia Knibbs, the Sabercats left the bases jammed to end the inning on a missed opportunity. Grace Strauch scored on an RBI from Lindsay Mikkelson in the third, making it 5-2 in Martin Luther's favor, but that's where the fun would end for the Sabercats on the offensive side of the game.
The Knights scored 7 runs in the top of the fifth inning to end the game early after the Sabercats couldn't produce in their final at-bat at Brandt-Quirk.
