EUREKA, Ill. -- The Sabercats were much more productive at the plate this time around at Eureka, but ultimately couldn't overcome the Red Devils, falling 4-11 and 4-10 in a Tuesday doubleheader.
Maranatha logged 9 hits in the opening game of the day, nearly matching their season-best 10 hits from March 31 vs Blackburn. Robbie Trautman led the charge as the only Sabercat to record 2 hits in the game. With the losses, the Sabercats are still in search of their first win of the season, and will look forward to next Tuesday's doubleheader against Viterbo.

STORY
Eureka came out swinging in the first inning, scoring three runs. But from there, nobody scored until the top of the 3rd inning. Teddy Haugen came in clutch for the Sabercats, sending a pitch over the fence, scoring a grand slam. For the first time of the day, the Sabercats took the lead.
The 4th inning was the kicker for the Sabercats. The Red Devils pushed 5 runs across the plate to make it a 10-4 game. Home plate was fairly quiet for the rest of the game, as Eureka only snuck one more run in at the bottom of the 6th inning. The final score stood at 11-4, as Jonathan Jeske pitched for the Sabercats and Trevor Kinder was on the mound for the Red Devils.
The second game of the day showed areas of improvement for the Sabercats, but produced a very similar final score. Reece Martin promptly picked up the Sabercats' first hit at the top of the first inning, but wasn't able to make it home. In the second inning, however, three Sabercats made it on base. Sebastian Martin snuck home on an error from Eureka's shortstop, getting the Sabercats on the board. In the bottom of the second, Teddy Haugen allowed just one hit, which never came to fruition as a run for the Red Devils.
Both teams would experience a scoring drought until the bottom of the 4th inning, with Eureka's Joe Clark hitting a solo homer, making the score 5-1 in the Red Devils' favor. In the bottom of the 5th inning, Eureka broke the code and went on a scoring flurry, assisted by a couple of errors from the Sabercats. By the end of the inning, the score stood at a dismal 10-1.
But the Sabercats would make one last attempt at a comeback in the bottom of the 7th inning, scoring three runs. Ultimately, Eureka put their foot down, ending the game before the Sabercats could gain more momentum. In the end, the final score stood at 10-4, as the Sabercats held the Red Devils to one less run than the previous game. Teddy Haugen was at the mound for Maranatha, while McKenna Hayden pitched for Eureka.
