Biography

BIO

Three things you need for survival?

"First, one must have shelter. A roof over their heads. Something sturdy yet insulated. What better object than an old WWII bunker? With walls several feet thick, a top of the line ventilation system, a solid foundation and defense against man and weather alike, it makes a perfect home. Some models even come with a premium weaponry package to aid in defenses.

Second, one must have food. Cookie dough is a must. Containing many basic nutrients such as sugar, carbs, protein (eggs), fiber (if you include oatmeal), and many other things that I’m sure Google could mention, cookie dough is the perfect meal. Good for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as dessert!

Third, one must have entertainment. If you’re alone, you need something to prevent you from going crazy (there are questions about some of my team members regarding this issue). That’s why I recommend a Blue Heeler. These dogs are small enough to play with you without accidentally killing you in the process and think of the benefits. It can hunt, protect, and serve you! After all, he is man’s best friend."

Ideal superpower?

"The ability to fly. I have always loved seeing the world from above. Not only is God’s creation amazing to behold, it would also enable me to see the world, especially the various theaters of WWII, my favorite subject of study. Consider the possibilities of visiting your friends and unsuspectingly sneaking up on them…oh the possibilities are truly endless. It also could possibly help with volleyball…just maybe."

Who's the funniest person on the team?

"Aaron. You never know what in the world he is going to say next. He is completely sincere and whether he means to or not, there is a high chance that whatever he says is going to be completely out of context and hilarious."

Complete this sentence: "Good leaders ______?"

"When I am looking for a leader, I want to see someone who puts the team ahead of themselves. Not only that, but as they lead, they are backing up their directions by first following it themselves. Leaders who are hypocritical and aren’t willing to get in with the rest of the team have a hard time garnering respect."

What attracts you to MBU (What do you like about MBU)?

"I love the culture MBU has cultivated. The place is focused on the students and strives to understand them. Everything is well balanced to accommodate many different types of people while maintaining strong standards, both in appearance, and more importantly, doctrine. While many complain about the rules and guidelines, I appreciate the flexibility as well as understanding the university has for us. I also just love the people. So many godly friends and faculty have poured themselves into my life and encouraged me in my walk with God. Coming from another college where I didn’t have that, this is a blessing that speaks volumes to me. I also enjoy the different ways I get to serve. From choir to sports, MBU encourages and provides me to use my talents to serve Him. These ministries, as well as others, have been invaluable to my growth as a person. Also, I know MBU is expensive for many, but I do appreciate that it is not as expensive as most of the country."

NON-FRESHMEN: What’s a great MBU memory on the field/court?

"Well, the first thing that comes to mind comes from another thing coming to mind: a volleyball. At nationals I was a newbie middle. I was late to a block but tried anyways. That ball went straight to my head and bounced off into the ceiling. Although I finished the game, that was enough for my first concussion, which are no laughing matter.

However, my best memory on the court was at North Park. After our serve, they sent an over pass directly to my position, and I was able to crush that ball with a fist, as Jake taught me, down to the 8ft line. Even the other team was impressed, and it was the most exciting thing I had done all season. Yet that wasn’t the end of the story. On the very next play, they set up an attack across the net from me and I had a huge block back down to their 10ft line. Back-to-back big plays and the highlight of my season."

NON-FRESHMEN: What’s a great MBU memory off the field/court?

"Last season, we had 28 away games, so we were on the road a lot. As a result, we spent much time in a bus or van and numerous hotels. The bus rides became very memorable about halfway through the season as our very own Luke Nason found the microphone and began giving game recaps, making sure to give the highlights and lowlights and everything else along with it, including some absolutely terrible dad jokes just to spice things up. These times always brought some joy after a tough game and gave us a delightful ride home."
