STORY
What looked like it would be a run away game for Dominican, who led by 14 just ten minutes into the game, turned into an excitingly close match until the final minutes. After trailing 30-16 with 7:47 to go in the first half, Maranatha found a spurt of energy through freshman David Gingery and sophomore Joe Shank, who hit some big three's to get the home crowd excited.
The Sabercats went on to outscore the Starts 20-7 in the remaining minutes of the half, bringing them to just a one point-deficit of 36-37.
Maranatha came out to start the second half with a little more confidence that in the first. Gingery, who went on to score his career-high of 14, hit two huge three-pointers to tie the teams up for the first time of the afternoon.
With a little over eight minutes to go in the game, Caleb Moultrie took advantage of a missed basket by Dominican and coverted an "and-one" to give the Sabercats their first lead of the game (60-57).
But a 10 point run by the Stars hit Maranatha where it hurt, and the Sabercats couldn't fight their way back. Dominican ended with a 88-75 win.
