WATERTOWN, Wis. -- Beloit College was too hot to handle last night, as the Buccaneers completed the season sweep over the Sabercats, taking a straight-set win in Watertown despite a late push for a Sabercats comeback.
It was a big night for Megan Miller, who enters the career charts for career digs with 1,358 - 10th all-time in Maranatha Women's Volleyball program history.
Beloit (4-18, 0-5 Midwest) registered a dozen kills in two of the three sets, while the Sabercats peaked with 7 in the final frame. The Sabercats will close out the week with two more home matches, Thursday night against Moody and Friday night against Great Lakes.
OVERVIEW
- Result: Maranatha 0-3 Beloit (11-25, 17-25, 23-25)

STORY
Early kills from Sarah Nason and Tessa Hinze started the Sabercats off on a 4-2 lead in the first set, but the celebrations were short-lived as Beloit found a rhythm and a 9-0 run to completely turn the tide of the set. Three closing kills gave Beloit a 25-11 win - their biggest of the night.
The story of the second set was one of momentum shifts, as early and late hot streaks for Beloit negated kills from Ella Malmanger and Hinze. The Sabercats pushed for the lead but it narrowly escaped them, as Beloit's teasing lead held until the Bucs dropped the hammer with a closing 6-1 run. The second set was 25-17 in Beloit's favor.
The third set was the closest, as big plays from Hinze at the net powered an 11-7 advantage for Maranatha. Just when the tide seemed to be turning, Beloit answered with a 5-0 run to snatch a lead that they would never relinquish, as the Sabercats tried to claw their way back but could only ever tie the set. Beloit's final seven points came from kills or aces, as the Bucs' commanding closing statement capped off their sweep of the season series.
