Sabercats fall on the road at Grace 33-64

WYOMING, Mich. -- Maranatha did not come out with the start they had hoped for against their conference foe, Grace Christian. It seemed that no shots would fall in favor of the Sabercats as they failed to put up a single point through the first eight minutes of play. The poor first half shooting performance directly effected the final outcome, with Maranatha falling 33-64.

Paige Joiner led the Sabercats scoring 10 points on the night with Lindsay Mikkelson leading on the boards with 7 rebounds.

For the Tigers, No. 5 Emilee Klacking and No. 22 Sierra Fonseca controlled the game with 21 and 14 points respectively, together earning a combined 7 or their teams 8 three-pointers.

STORY
Maranatha struggled early to get on the board in yesterday's conference match against Grace. Shooting just 18 percent from the field in the first half, the Sabercats found themselves trying to fight back in their final 20 minutes from an 18 point deficit (9-27 GCU).

Grace's Sierra Fonseca earned her team their early cushion by scoring all 14 of her total points in the first half of play. Emilee Klacking, who only had 4 points going into halftime, found her spark in the second half and helped to secure the Tigers 64-33 win by contributing a total 21 points.

While the Sabercats improved their shooting in the second half of play, shooting just over 34 percent from the field, they were unable to secure a win.

With another two conference games to play yet this weekend, the Sabercats focus their eyes ahead, learning from every loss and hungry for their first win.
