Second Seed Secured: Sabercats Sweep Season Series

Sabercats top Emmaus 2-0 in Regional Finale

WATERTOWN, Wis. -- With a 2-0 win over Emmaus this afternoon, the Sabercats have locked in the second seed for the Regional Semifinal, where they will face Great Lakes Christian College for the third time this season.

Before that, the Sabercats have two more regular-season games. In today's game, Pedro Ribeiro and Joseph Greene scored the goals and Robert Lemon provided both assists in the regional matchup.

STORY

Pedro Ribeiro finally broke through after early chances went begging. After Lemon found his way into the box, his teasing cross was met by the oncoming Ribeiro, who punched a shot low into the left corner to give the Sabercats the 1-0 lead.

Chances kept going the Sabercats way, and the second goal came just after halftime, when Lemon turned the corner on the Emmaus defense once again before laying a pass perfectly in Greene's path, just inside the penalty area. Greene's shot was too hot to handle for the Emmaus goalkeeper, as the ball deflected into the top-left corner to give the Sabercats the second goal of the game. The 90 minutes wound down with very few scares from Emmaus, as Joe Shank made one save to keep the clean sheet intact.
