WATERTOWN, Wis. -- The tenth-ranked Kuyper College Cougars were on the job tonight, putting up a 79-40 win over the Sabercats in a Midwest Region clash in Watertown.
Katelyn Shank and Lidia Perez both hit career-high points on the night, but the Cougars' relentless offense was a force to be reckoneded with - the visitors kept Maranatha at arm's length throughout the matchup and closed out a stress-free win to reinforce their ranking in the NCCAA DII Top 10.
The Cougars sent five of their student-athletes into double figures on the night, led by Couper Agema's 18 points. Kuyper dominated down low, scoring 48 points in the paint, and their defense held Maranatha to shooting just over 25 percent on the night.
For the Sabercats, Shanke (7 points) and Perez (4) both scored career-high numbers on the night while Kyria Teachout (8 points, 9 rebounds) continued her solid play to keep things heading in the right direction for Maranatha.
Head Coach Paul Brown and the team honored the parents in attendance for parents' night, a ceremony that took place during the halftime break.
