LANSING, Mich. -- The Sabercats took their first NCCAA Top 10 win of the season this afternoon thanks to an early goal from Joseph Greene, beating No. 10 Great Lakes Christian 1-0 in NCCAA Midwest Region play.

This was the first game in NCCAA Midwest Region play that counts towards the regional seedings for the Sabercats, who will face No. 3 Grace Christian tomorrow in Grand Rapids in another regional-seedings contest.

STORY
After both teams graded chances in the opening minutes, the Sabercats' breakthrough came 20 minutes into the first half, when Matheus Ribeiro found space in the midfield and punched a pass up to Greene, who controlled the pass in his stride, running hard to the Crusaders' goal. As the goalkeeper charged, Greene slipped past him and touched the ball into the gaping net to put the Sabercats up 1-0.

At the other end of the field, Joe Shank had to be on his toes to keep Great Lakes off the board, saving multiple shots from around the top of the penalty area. At halftime, the Sabercats had a solid 1-0 lead.

The second half didn't really bring any intense moments - both teams created a couple of shots, but neither team had a clear-cut chances to score. The Sabercats' defense held strong and the Crusaders were out of answers in trying to find a breakthrough. At the end of 90 hard-fought minutes, Greene's goal stood and the Sabercats had secured their second win of the season.
