WATERTOWN, Wis. -- Maranatha Men's Volleyball enters its ninth varsity season with a new head coach this weekend, as Coach Julie Allweil takes the reins of the program after being named as head coach during the fall semester.
With 7 returning players and 3 newcomers, the spirits of the team are high as they enter the campaign. And Coach Allweil can't wait to get started.
"I've been really excited by the potential of our players," Allweil said. "I've also enjoyed the excitement - honestly we've been having just an absolute blast working to get better. I really have a desire to grow this program as far as getting more players to come try out, and more importantly, I want us to grow in our skill and our standards of play. Right now, we're working to establish our Men's Volleyball Core Covenants which I'm really excited about, so that we all have direction, we can go in together, and future teams can strive for [them] as well. I'm really excited and I certainly have the goal of getting some wins."
Only three players from a previous season return to a roster of 10. The team will play at home on four different dates during the regular season.
