Sabercats Sunk by Great Lakes

Box Score

WATERTOWN, Wis. -- In a rematch with the NCCAA's current #6 team, the Sabercats fought and fell to Great Lakes, 36-82.

Anna Alsup led the Sabercats' scoring with 14 points.

OVERVIEW

  • Result: Maranatha 36-82 #6 Great Lakes
  • Venue: MBU Main Gymnasium
  • Location: Watertown, Wis.
  • Attendance: 75
  • Records: MBU (1-19), GLCC (8-13)

STORY
The first quarter was the Sabercats' best performance of the night, as they scored 14 points, capitalizing on opportunities in the paint and drawing fouls. The second quarter was one the Sabercats would rather forget. The Crusaders ran a suffocating defense, stealing the ball before the Sabercats could score. The score at the half stood at a dismal 45-19.

The third quarter didn't go much better for the exhausted Sabercats, as they couldn't seem to crack the code that was the Crusaders' defense. By the fourth quarter, the Sabercats sprang to life, nearly matching their first-quarter score of 14. But it wasn't enough to dig themselves out of the hole they found themselves in. At the buzzer, the Sabercats took a tough 36-82 loss.
