HANNIBAL, Mo. -- The Sabercats were ultimately outdone at Hannibal-LaGrange today, taking a 12-1 loss to continue a difficult stretch of road games to open the season.
Cameron Spencer logged his first college hit in style, smashing an RBI double in the top of the fourth to make it Sabercats 1, Trojans 3. That came after a double from Sebastian Martin in the second inning, so the Sabercats were looking determined to keep things close.
But the hosts had other ideas, promptly answering with 9 runs over the next two innings to wrap up the win. Isaac Phillips was the player of the game for the hosts, logging 4 RBIs off of a double and a home run. Drew Elsenrath was credited with the win, picking up his first of the season. Judson Martin was given the loss for the Sabercats.
