CARLINVILLE, Ill. -- In their last game before spring break, the Sabercats had their best showing of the season thus far, but came up just short, losing to Blackburn 5-7.
In the 4th inning, Sebastian Martin smashed his first homer, logging 3 RBIs in the process. By the end of the 4th inning, the score sat at 3-1, with the Sabercats in the lead.
By the bottom of the 6th, the Beavers had scored 6 runs, taking a 7-3 lead. In the 7th inning, things would heat up for the Sabercats. After a double from Teddy Haugen, Judson Martin would hit a double of his own, bringing Teddy home and notching his first RBI of the season.
But the hosts had other plans, as they promptly closed out the top of the 7th inning, ending the Sabercats' scoring opportunities for the time being. From that point on, neither team would score, leaving the final score at 7-5 in the Beavers' favor. Sebastian Martin was the MVP for the Sabercats, banking 4 RBIs off a double and a home run. Blackburn's Rudy Hinijosa was credited with the win, while Jonathan Jeske was given the loss for the Sabercats.
