Sabercats Fall to LeMoyne-Owen in First Game of Spring Trip

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. -- In the first game of their spring tour, the Sabercats fought and fell in a doubleheader against a strong LeMoyne-Owen team.

From the 1st inning, the Magicians showcased their heavy hitters, creating a tough matchup for the Sabercats. After scoring 4 runs in the first inning alone, the Magicians didn't let off the gas. With a final score of 26-0, the Magicians cruised past the Sabercats in the first contest of the day.

LeMoyne-Owen's Seth Terrell was credited with the win, while Judson Martin was given the loss.

In the second game of the day, the Sabercats showed much improvement, as they not only scored 3 runs in the matchup, but also cut the Magicians' score to 13. In the first inning, Reece Martin scored the first run of the game after being walked home by the pitcher. Not long after, Sebastian Martin would sneak home off a wild pitch.

Fast forward to the 4th inning, and the Sabercats would score again. This time, Timothy Searle would get on base after being plunked. Emerson Pease logged his first RBI of the season, bringing Searle home, making the score 3-1 in favor of the Sabercats. Despite their success, things would quickly go off the rails for the Sabercats in the bottom of the 4th inning, as the Magicians would retaliate with 9 runs. At the conclusion of the game, the score sat at 13-3, denying the Sabercats a win after a strong start to the game.

In the end, Ryan Meglis was credited with the win for the Magicians, and Ben Melendez was given the loss for the Sabercats.
