WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. -- The Sabercats had some bright spots but ultimately couldn't offset a 33-run showing from Williams Baptist in the doubleheader, falling on a Wednesday afternoon in Arkansas.
The Sabercats will continue their spring trip with a trip to Elsah, Illinois and a doubleheader with Principia College beginning at 12:00 P.M.

STORY
The first game of the day wasn't without its opportunities, as the Sabercats stranded runners in scoring position in 3 of their 7 at-bats as a team. The only damage Maranatha could do was a run in the top of the 1st inning and an unearned run in the top of the 5th. Unfortunately that wasn't enough to offset 16 runs from Williams Baptist, who were unable to force a shutout.
Despite the loss, Maranatha recorded 4 base hits. Emerson Pease was the only Sabercat to log multiple hits in the first game of the doubleheader.
The Sabercats got off to a slower start in the second game, failing to score in the 1st inning. However, the Sabercats scored their first run in the 2nd inning as Ben Werner scored off a wild pitch. Williams Baptist answered with authority, however, scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning, eventually taking a 17-2 win. Pease was the only Sabercat with multiple hits in the second game, adding two doubles to his stats for the day.
At the mound, Jonathan Jeske was given the loss for the first game, while Ben Melendez was handed the loss in the second game of the day.
