Hall of Fame
In recognition of his accomplishments on the football field as a Maranatha Crusader (1972-75), and off the field as a Christian educator, coach, athletic director, and pastor; and for his dedication to our Maranatha Crusader and Sabercat athletes and athletic competition.
As an intercollegiate athlete in the formative years of athletics at Maranatha, Dr. Akins exemplified the spirit, enthusiasm, and work ethic that Maranatha Baptist University desires to instill in all its athletes.
As a coach, athletic director, and teacher in Christian education, Dr. Akins has influenced the lives of countless young people, instilling these same qualities in others as he continues to minister in the local church for the cause of Jesus Christ.
Dr. Akins' legacy and testimony both on and off the field of competition, shall ever remain as a testament to the Lord Jesus Christ and to Maranatha Baptist University athletics.
