RIPON, Wis. -- The Sabercats showed up for the fight last night, competing in a 3-0 loss to Ripon College - the Sabercats' highest-powered opponent of the season - at Hopp Stadium.
The game served as sort of a tune-up for the Sabercats' weekend test against Faith - a parents' day contest on the MBU campus in which the Sabercats will be seeking revenge.
OVERVIEW
- Result: Maranatha 0-3 Ripon
- Venue: Hopp Stadium, Ripon College
- Location: Ripon, Wis.
- Attendance: 81
- Record:Â MBU (5-6-0), RC (3-8-3)Â
STORY
The Sabercats held Ripon scoreless for 25 minutes before allowing Ripon to score twice in a five-minute span. That quick scoring spree was all that the Sabercats would allow, however, and going into halftime down 2-0, the Sabercats found themselves in the game.
Ripon's only goal in the second half Rebecca Roszel scored her second goal of the game and was set up by Cielo Guttierez, who logged two assists and a goal on the day for the Red Hawks. At the other end of the field, Alayna Smith had a chance to pull the Sabercats level, but her shot was denied by Andreanna Wilke in the Ripon goal.
Chloe Dodd had a night to remember, chalking up 10 saves for Maranatha.
