Polars Power Past Sabercats

Sabercats struggle to connect en route to 73-101 loss.

WATERTOWN, Wis.— The Sabercats struggled to connect in their matchup with Crown College, shooting under 50 percent en route to a 73-101 loss to the Polars.

Christian Cleveland led both teams with 22 points while James Hawley (18) and Will Schultz (10) both recorded double digits for the Sabercats, who will look to turn it around with a contest against UW-Stout on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.

STORY
In their first meeting of the season, Crown wasted no time in taking a commanding 22-10 lead in the first ten minutes of the contest. From that point on, it was a matter of stopping the bleeding for Maranatha, who looked to restore order with a variety of contributions on the offensive side. Going into halftime, four points from Grant Brock were part of the efforts to kick-start something offensively, but the Sabercats were still down 33-52 and in search of answers.

The second half was another step in the right direction for the Sabercats, who made it a 40-49 half after playing more sharply from top to bottom. Despite the Sabercats' rebound, the Polars had already inflicted terminal damage at the beginning of the game. When the final horn blew, the Polars took home a convincing win, 101-73.
