WATERTOWN, Wis. -- The Sabercats had bright spots tonight but ultimately took a 3-1 loss to Edgewood in front of a vocal home crowd in the Maranatha gymnasium.
Phillip Holbrook registered a dozen kills and 11 assists to lead the Sabercats, who continue a difficult NCAA DIII schedule in the middle part of their season.

STORY
Edgewood announced their intentions right from the get-go, but their 25-18 win in the opening set didn't come easy - both teams recorded double-digit kills, as the first set turned out to be an offensive battle.
But the Sabercats all but silenced the Eagles' hitters in the second frame. The fans fed off the energy from the court, as big play at the net from Holbrook and Peyton Warner in the middle of the set started turning the tide in favor of Maranatha. The final point was bizarre, as Warner tried to deal with a piping-hot Eagle serve, but Warner's return looped up towards the ceiling and landed just inside the line to give the Sabercats an unorthodox finish to a well-earned set win.

But just as quickly as the Sabercats reworked the momentum, the Eagles took it back. Edgewood stifled the Sabercats' attack, limiting the Blue and Gold to just eight kills over the final two sets combined. Edgewood won the final two sets 25-16 to secure the four-set win
