ANKENY, Iowa — The Sabercats finally got what they came for on Thursday night, as they took down Faith in Ankeny 82-73 for their first win of the season.
Will Schultz led Maranatha with 22 points and 9 rebounds, Brayden Cox pitched in a dozen and Emmanuel Coffy bounced off the bench to score 11 points for MBU.

STORY
The first half was all about taking the chances you were given, as the Sabercats out-shot Faith by going 57 percent from the floor. Besides that statistic, the teams were evenly matched in the opening 20 minutes, as the largest lead stayed under double digits. Schultz was leading the Sabercats with 15 points while Andy Hecker scored 10 off the bench for the Eagles.
What changed in the second half? Hardly anything. The Sabercats stuck to their game plan, out-shot the Eagles again, and held off any significant threat from the hosts. Maranatha's offense was balanced in the second half while the Eagles relied on Josh Baucum to score over half of their points. Baucum put up 20 while shooting 8-15 from the floor and 1-4 from downtown.
On Maranatha's side of things, Coffy and James Hawley logged 6 points each while Schultz and Ben Price pitched in 7. The Sabercats were the sharper shooters on the night, connecting over 50 percent from the floor while holding the Eagles to just 39 percent.
