DUBUQUE, Iowa -- Shem Abdnour led the Sabercats today at the NCCAA Super Regional, finishing three places ahead of his projection to PR and earn All-Region as both Sabercats squads took fifth place.
Four of the six women's runners set PRs on the day as the Sabercats competed at the Dubuque Soccer Complex.
On the men's side, Crown College surprised everyone by taking the gold with 49 points. For the Sabercats, Abdnour set a PR time of 29:10. Isaac Sandeen was the only other Sabercat to PR, clocking a 39:51 time to round out the top five for the Sabercats. Austin Carlson (Crown, NCCAA North Region) was the first-place finisher with an 8K time of 27:41.
For the women, Anna Morken finished just outside of the All-Region selections with a 23:15 5K. Abigail Dorothy, Katherine Long, Olivia Barefield, and Olivia Graziano all set PRs as the Sabercats took 5th place out of 6 teams. As expected, Ella Dufault (Crown) won the race with a 19:27 5K.
